Man, life is good, especially here on Caye Caulker! Mick and I have been bumming around the island exploring the town, meeting fun people and enjoying all there is to do. My first morning here started with my martial arts training in Arnis - Philippino stick fighting. Mick just happens to be training the US team to compete in the Philippines in a year and I figured I might as well learn too. After one hour of practice on the beach yesterday morning, my arms hurt terribly and I think I am likely to beat my own self with the sticks. Can anyone say coordination? The rest of the day was spent snorkeling the world's 2nd largest barrier reef complete with a pod of dolphins and a 6 foot long spotted eagle ray. We have decided to skip diving the famous Blue Hole because of cost and apparently there really isn't more to see. Last night, we saw some traditional Belize drumming and enjoyed chatting with locals from the Fish and Game Department. Today we went jogging in circles on the island, much to the amusement of the locals who thought we were crazy, and are now taking it easy - enjoying our last day on the beach. Tonight Mick and I plan to take first place in trivia night and then tomorrow we are off cave tubing and then to San Ignacio in the Cayo District of Belize in the jungle.
Caye Caulker - my new home away from home!
Our first night on Caye Caulker at the I & I Reggae Bar with some new friends from the hostel- great music and great fun!
Nothing says vacation like fun in the sun... on a boat... drinking rum... and eating pineapples!
The world's second largest barrier reef - right off the coast of Belize!
Yes, that is a barracuda and a sting ray and yes I was a little terrified.
Mick and I swinging, literally, at our new favorite hangout on Caye Caulker. Let me tell you - they should have padded the bar!
