Rome-A-Go-Go

June 20, 2012

Greetings from Rome everyone!  I am alive and mostly well . . . for most of you who don't know I managed to rip my knee tendon again, just hours before my flight to Rome.  But thanks to KT tape, Erin's crutches, and large doses of IB Profin I am doing surprisingly well!  (Minus the fact that I had to ride the wheel chair of shame in the airport.)  I am having a grand time in Rome but will let the pictures do the talking for me!

Easy to see why I love Rome already! I especially like the ladies who ride scooters in their short dresses and long heels!

One of the fountains on the street Via Dell Quattro Fontane (I'll give you a hint . . . there were three more fountains on the other street corners.)

The best way to fill up a water bottle!  Get with it America!

Lost in Rome with my new friends Jan and Jordan.

The Spanish Steps, unfortunatley I missed filming the group of Spanish men who draped the Spanish flag over the balcony and began singing their soccer team's song.

Trevi Fountain

Trevi Fountain with yours truely

Vatican City ... If you stand in the middle of Piazza San Pietro and look out at the columns in just the right place you can line up all the columns exactly - it only took me 12 trys!

The view from the top of the dome of St. Basilica after 551 stairs . . . the poor man's way up!

Just asking... but has anyone ever base jumped off St. Basilica's dome???

Inside St. Peter's Basilica.  Here is Michelangelo's Pieta.... behind bullet proof glass.  There are a lot of hoodlums and all that like shooting statues.

Inside St. Peter's Basilica.

The front of St. Basilica - there were tons of brides around.  Apparently you can come to the Vatican City for 3 months after you are married and get your wedding blessed when the Pope or the Cardinal speaks . . . today the Cardinal spoke.

The courtyard of the Vatican Musuem.

Pictures don't do justice to the art inside the Vatican Musuem.  And no photos were allowed inside the Sistine Chapel . . .. but I can tell you that Michelangelo is a pretty decent artist.

One of the many narrow streets we walked down today.

Raman and I at Piazzo Navona.

The outside of the Pantheon.

The inside of the Pantheon and the tomb of artist Raphael's bones.

Raman and I outside the Colosseum.

The smell of blood still lingers in the air . . .

A stadium inside the Palatino, Rome's used to be hot spot.

Ahh . . .  so pretty.
