Nothing like waking up at 6:30 on your summer vacation to head to Nara for half the day! It was great getting to walk around seeing so many temples and shrines as I am spending the latter half of my day on my butt getting myself to the Kansai Airport and flying out to visit Okinawa and Andy! Let the good times roll . . .
Hmm . . . And to think they sell deer food all through Nara Park.
Do you see the fear in her eyes?
The Todaiji Temple - the world`s largest wooden building and home to the the Giant Buddha.
The world`s largest Buddha statue! (My photo doesn`t quite convey how large it really is.)
A sea of old laterns while walking around Kasuga Shrine in Nara.
One of the only shrines, Kasagu, in Japan where one can buy an English fortune. If it is good you get to take it but if you get a bad fortune you can tie it to a post at the shrine in hopes it won`t come true. My fortune was titled, Moderately Good Fortunate, but after inquiring it is actually the second best fortune one can get - yeah!
