Happy July 4th

Happy Indepence Day All!

I may not have been enjoying fireworks and BBQ`s but I found my day equally enjoyable. Peter and I spent his last day together running around town to squeeze in all the sights we could. The weather was great and my night certainly made for a memorable July 4th all the same.

The sunset from the viewing platform of Mt. Inari. Peter and I only ran down a few hundred steps (through the toriis of course) to make it in time to see this!

Some of the thousands of toris at Fushimi-Inara Shrine - by far the best we have visited so far. They go on for over a mile and loop through the mountain.

Peter and I on the Togetsukyo Bridge in the Arashiyama area of Kyoto. I was looking for the boats that use cormorant birds on leash to fish, but they weren`t out yet.

The temple at Tenryu-ji. They serve traditional vegan buddhist food here, but we weren`t down with the 3,500 yen price tag that came with the honor of getting to eat lunch in a temple.

A traditional Japanese garden at Tenryu-ji.

Peter and I inside the bamboo forest at Arashiyama. I was hoping we could run through the forest Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon style, but not so much.

Our first stop of the day Rokyon-ji Temple, commonly called the Golden Pavilion, covered in real gold leaf. Thank goodness the sun wasn`t out today!
